The University of Southampton is pleased to offer Joint CAS for students who wish to study both a pre-sessional English Language course and a degree programme (substantive course) with our institution.
A Joint CAS covers both the pre-sessional and the substantive programme of study. In order to be eligible for the Joint CAS students must meet the following criteria:
- An ‘unconditional accepted’ status for the pre-sessional programme. This status indicates that they have met the entry criteria for their pre-sessional programme, accepted the offer, and paid any deposits required
- Provided evidence of meeting all conditions other than English language by the specified deadlines
- Paid the deposit for their substantive degree programme (Business School students only)
- Completed and returned their CAS Questionnaire
- An IELTS score of no more than half an IELTS band (0.5) from the substantive degree English language entry requirements in all five IELTS components.
Applicants with an IELTS score of more than half an IELTS band from the substantive degree English language entry requirements in all five IELTS components will not be eligible for a Joint CAS.
Applicants not eligible for a Joint CAS will be issued two single CAS, one for the Pre-sessional programme and another for the substantive programme of study.
