Three new TESOL programmes recruiting for this September 2016.
MSc Education Studies and TESOL
Education Studies and TESOL is the ideal option for students with some teaching experience or education who wish to study a postgraduate degree with a strong education element as well as a focus on Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages (TESOL). The design of the course makes it particularly attractive to students who may wish to teach other subjects as well as English. As part of the course you will visit local schools and learn about the pastoral role of teachers, particularly in relation to issues of difference, diversity and inclusion. You will also explore different approaches to educational research, as well as developing your knowledge of key TESOL principles and practice, and pursuing specific options in TESOL.
MSc Management and English Language Teaching
This course is designed for those who see themselves not only as teachers but also, potentially, as managers of language teaching schools or departments.
Students will learn the key knowledge and skills needed to be a professional teacher of English as a Foreign Language combined, through modules taught in the Stirling Management School, with the competencies to manage a multicultural working environment.
This ground-breaking PhD programme will develop your ability to become an autonomous researcher in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The seven taught modules you will take will advance your knowledge in TESOL, research methods and educational theory, and will help you to refine your research project. All the work undertaken in the taught part of the course will inform your thesis research, thus ensuring a more robust investigation.
